Ceramic Shaft is the most widely applied and cost-effective pump shaft. It offers a combination of superior mechanical strength and electrical properties, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The maximum working temperature is up to 1700 °C with relatively high thermal conductivity. Ceramic Shaft is also an electrically insulating material with a high electrical resistivity. The good corrosion resistance makes Ceramic Shaft for pump insoluble in water and slightly soluble in strong acid and alkaline solution.

Advantages of Ceramic Shaft

High hardness

For wet running, they outperform steel because the ceramic impeller shaft is extremely hard and are able to grind up and disperse foreign materials such as limescale, rust or sand particles that happen to get into the bearing area.

● High heat resistance

High material thermal stability, very low CTE offering dimensional stability.

● High wear resistance

Low coefficient of friction, and extreme resistance to wear during high-speed rotation (>3,000rpm) in abrasive fluid systems.

● High electrical insulation

Alumina, being chemically inert and insulating, avoids both electrochemical and electrolytic action of Ceramic Shaft.

● High corrosion resistance

Exceptional corrosion resistance in aqueous-based pumping applications, therefore not affected by corrosion inhibitors or aggressive environments.

Application of Ceramic Shaft

Ceramic Shaft for pump made of 95% pure alumina is used in small pumps. The applications for these pumps vary from chemical handling to heating water circulation, garden pond and fountain pumping and even for use in aquariums.
